DHI Hair Transplant in Turkey

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) places each graft with a pen-shaped implanter that opens the site and implants the hair in one movement. This gives close control over the angle, direction and depth of every hair, which matters most for natural hairlines and for adding density between existing hair.

How it works

How DHI works, step by step

  1. Assessment and design

Your doctor examines your hair loss and donor area, then draws the planned hairline with you.

  2. Graft extraction

Under local anaesthesia, follicular units are removed one by one from the back and sides of the head with a very fine punch.

  3. Loading the implanters

Grafts are loaded into implanter pens. Several pens are used in rotation so implantation continues steadily.

  4. Direct implantation

Each pen opens the site and releases the graft at the planned angle and depth, with single hairs at the front of the hairline.

  5. Aftercare

Your first wash is at the clinic. We follow your growth for 12 months.

Compare

DHI compared with channel implantation

In channel implantation, small slits are opened across the area first and grafts are placed into them afterwards with fine forceps. DHI combines both steps. Neither approach is right for every patient.

Suitability

Who DHI suits

Refined hairlines

Individual control of each graft helps create a soft, natural hairline edge.

Density between existing hair

Grafts can be placed between native hairs, often without shaving the recipient area.

Beard and eyebrows

Very flat angles and changing directions make DHI a strong option for beard and eyebrow transplants.

For very large areas, your doctor may recommend a plan over two sessions. Read more in our guide DHI hair transplant explained.

FAQ

DHI hair transplant: common questions

What does DHI stand for?

DHI stands for Direct Hair Implantation. Grafts are loaded into a pen-shaped implanter and placed directly into the scalp.

Is DHI a different operation from other hair transplants?

Not fundamentally. Every modern follicular unit transplant extracts grafts and implants them. DHI describes how the grafts are implanted.

Can DHI be done without shaving?

In suitable cases the recipient area can stay unshaved because grafts are placed between existing hairs. The donor area usually still needs to be trimmed.

Who is DHI best for?

DHI is often chosen for hairline design, adding density between existing hair, and for beard and eyebrow work where precise angles matter most.

How long does a DHI session take?

Most sessions take a full day. The exact time depends on the number of grafts and the area treated.

Is DHI more painful?

No. DHI is performed under local anaesthesia like other techniques. Most patients feel pressure rather than pain after the anaesthetic.

Are DHI results permanent?

Grafts come from the donor area, which is generally resistant to pattern hair loss, so transplanted hair usually keeps growing long term.

Is DHI right for your hair?

Send us a few photos for a free assessment. Your doctor will explain which approach suits you and why.
