Beard Transplant

No one can deny that facial hair in men gives them an attractive manly appearance. Many men, however, have bald spots or uneven hair growth on their beards and mustaches. Men’s lack of facial hair could be due to genetics, surgical scars, burns, or skin illnesses.

Beard transplant is a surgical procedure that allows men to achieve the manly look they desire by growing a thick, healthy beard. It may also include hair transplant in the mustache area if necessary. Beard restoration surgery, on the other hand, is more difficult than hair transplant surgery.

The hair follicles to be transplanted in the beard are removed from the donor area by FUE method and placed one by one especially in the beard area. Transplanted hair follicles retain their previous features in the beard area and continue to grow. However, if they are planted at very frequent intervals, their elongation will be late or not at all. Therefore, the frequency of transplantation should be adjusted to ensure feeding and elongation.

In beard transplantation operation

In the beard transplantation operation, if the area to be transplanted is partially sparse or small open areas, the process can be done by planting the hairs taken from the area where the beard is more bushy and frequent. Depending on the hair condition of the patient, if suitable for transplantation, it is possible to do the transplantation of the beard using hairs taken from the neck, as well as the hairs on the nape.

What bothers men is that there are no beards in very specific areas more than the sparseness of the beard. Because beard is not like hair. There is sparseness or frequency depending entirely on the genetic system and structure. That why, a stable distribution is more important than how many hairs per square centimeter.

How Many Grafts are Transplanted for Beard Transplantation?

If the person has no beard (completely beardless), an average of 3000 grafts can be enough for a beard and mustache. 800 – 1000 grafts will give the desired result if transplantation is done only in the mustache area.

After Beard Transplantation

A few weeks after the beard transplant, a pink appearance on the skin and slight redness of the hair follicles may be seen. However, after about 2 weeks this appearance disappears completely.
it is not recommended to wash the beard and mustache area for the first 24 hours.

After the beard transplantation, the hair grows and becomes visible in 2-3 days. At this stage, small acnes can be seen in the transplanted area. The beard that continues to grow on the days after planting can be shortened with scissors or left to grow. However, the patient must not shave his beard for 1 month in order for the procedure to be successful.

From the second week after beard transplantation, a shedding called shock shedding may occur. There is no need to worry about that. On average 4 to 8 months after this shedding, all beards will grow again. The continued increase in hair follicles in the beard transplantation area continues for 2 years after planting.

Not too long ago, the fact that beard and mustache, which are important elements of male aesthetics, were sparse or not at all and shed for various reasons seemed to be an unsolvable problem. However, with developing technology and hair transplantation methods also being applied for beard transplantation, beard sparseness or absence is no longer a problem.

With beard transplantation, it is possible to have a lifelong healthy and bushy beard and mustache.
